Megaptera novaeangliae - humpback whale

Vocalization of the ocean depths
Weaving the songs of the sea
Exploration through migrations
Followed by submarine symphony.

Through the blue travels
distant melody
Silence the noise,
And maybe we shall hear.

Humpback whales, gentle oceanic giants, utilize vocalization for communication, and their songs reverberate through the underwater world. Each whale population develops its unique melody, and when two populations meet, they learn from each other. Their songs evolve with time, with each successive generation, becoming the intangible cultural heritage of nature itself. However, their songs are under threat. Due to increasing human activities, the oceans grow noisy. Sound pollution disrupts the whales' communication and mutes their songs. By restricting anthropogenic activities on migratory routes and vital habitats of these giants, the music of the ocean can be preserved. The silence of underwater realms carries deeper consequences than we can imagine.

"Whale songs" is part of the "Ocean" subseries, within the broader collection titled "From Tundra to Tropical Rainforest." Collection also has a written addition to every painting. It's my biggest body of work so far. Paintings feature animals and their stories acros the Earths biomes.
