Laura Lončar was born in a small countryside in the heart of Croatia, where she spent her childhood surrounded by nature, animals, and books. In this environment, she cultivated a strong curiosity and a desire to explore, learn, and examine the world around her. Always carrying a notebook and a pencil around, she was ready to capture her insights in the form of sketches and short writings.
Her desire for knowledge and understanding about natural world led her to pursue studies in biology. During her lectures, she found herself captivated by complex mechanisms of life. Biology helped her to connect with nature, deepening her love and interest in science.
Laura applied what she learned to infuse her artistic work. Her creative side was soon recognized by professors, leading to various opportunities and projects. She illustrated books, posters, and designed products. Her early body of work, "Big cats", was exhibited at the Department of Biology in Osijek. While in college, Laura initiated the project "On the Creative Side of the Brain," exploring the connection between the human mind and art, teaching people to harness their creativity in everyday life.
In 2022, she enrolled in the Milan Art Institute mastery program, dedicating a year to refining her art, developing her voice, and honing her unique style.
2023. she gratuated from college, and 2024. she gratuated from Milan art institute program.
“When I’m starting the piece, I just play with colors. I completely surrender to the process, let go of the control and create a lively chaos. Then I work with this chaos, edit it and refine, until I create something that holds a meaning. Surprisingly, all those messy layers are crucial in the end, they add interest and dimension to the final work. I think it is a beautiful metaphor for life. Often it may seem chaotic, we might face challenges, experience tears, joy, love, hurt and a whole spectrum of emotions. We get a lot of mess. Then we layer all those experiences, collect days and refine them as we go, and our life becomes our greatest masterpiece.”
Laura currently explores the connection between the natural world and her artistic process. For her, a blank canvas is a chance for exploration and discovery. Inspiration for her artwork Laura finds in books, science theories and nature. She is also prepairing her first book called "From tundra to tropical rainforests" for publishing.
