Burrowing owls live and nest underground, digging their burrow or taking over abandoned ones from other animals. To signal others that the burrow is occupied, they decorate the entrance with items they find, and during nesting, the male stands guard at the entrance to keep out uninvited guests. Despite most owls being solitary, burrowing owls are quite social. They form small family groups that join together into larger colonies.
"Sunlit moments of togetherness" is a part of the "desert" subseries, within the broader collection titled "From Tundra to Tropical Rainforest." Collection also has a written addition to every painting. It's my biggest body of work so far. Paintings feature animals and their stories acros the Earths biomes.
