Crossbills are characterized by vocal variability. The red crossbill is divided into subspecies, each with its unique call, and even the vocalizations vary among individuals within the same flock. In the case of the white-winged crossbill, the song varies depending on the geographic area it inhabits.
"Scarlet melodies" is a part of the "Boreal forest" subseries, within the broader collection titled "From Tundra to Tropical Rainforest." Collection also has a written addition to every painting. It's my biggest body of work so far. Paintings feature animals and their stories acros the Earths biomes.
