Acinonyx jubatus - Cheetah

I am the manifestation of movement

The fastest animal on the planet -

But I was not prepared

For this race against time itself.

With every given moment

I become less and less.

Hear my voice

Don't turn away.

The cheetah is the fastest land mammal, capable of reaching speeds up to around 100 kilometers per hour. This is enabled by their body structure. Their sleek bodies and long legs are a perfect combination for movement, while their large nostrils and lungs allow them to take in larger amounts of oxygen during intense hunts. The black lines beneath their eyes reduce sun glare and help them focus on their prey. Due to habitat loss and poaching, cheetah populations are declining.

"Fire in my eyes" is a part of the "Grasslands" subseries, within the broader collection titled "From Tundra to Tropical Rainforest." Collection also has a written addition to every painting. It's my biggest body of work so far. Paintings feature animals and their stories acros the Earths biomes.
